The role

As a Mechanical Technician, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. In this role, you’ll be at the heart of precision engineering, where your expertise directly supports critical flying tasks.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:

 

  • Perform authorised maintenance tasks under 100% supervision, ensuring compliance with competency assessments and any authorisation limitations.
  • Undertake first-signature responsibilities for bay maintenance and rectification activities.
  • Execute maintenance in accordance with approved data sources, reporting any process or information discrepancies for resolution.
  • Safely handle compressed gases and pressurised hydraulic fluids within the maintenance environment.
  • Operate bay equipment, including hydraulic test benches, following appropriate operator training.

 

This role is full time working 37.5 hour per week and is based on site at RAF Valley, Wales.

 

Essential experience of the Mechanical Technician:

  • Strong understanding of hydraulic systems and components, including principles of operation.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic power dynamics, including flow rates and pressure control.
  • Ability to apply general and specialist engineering expertise, leveraging existing and emerging technologies.
  • Proficient in IT systems, including MS Office Suite and internet-based tools for reporting and documentation.

 

Qualifications for the Mechanical Technician:

  • Industry experience or equivalent On-the-Job Training/Trade training (e.g., City & Guilds 2675 Level 3).
  • Full, valid driving licence.

 

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
