The role
As a Mechanical Supervisor, working as part of the Hawk T2 Forward Line, you’ll take on a position of authority within our aviation maintenance team, leading skilled technicians and ensuring aircraft availability during busy flying programmes. This is a hands‑on and highly responsible role where your technical judgement, leadership and aviation experience will directly support operational success.
The work you do will not only keep aircraft mission‑ready it will also develop your leadership capability, deepen your technical expertise and open further career pathways within Babcock’s global aviation community.
Day-to-day, you’ll supervise and sign off maintenance within your trade boundaries, contribute to crew‑in rectification, support turnaround activities and help maintain the highest levels of safety and compliance.
- You will supervise and undertake aircraft maintenance activities, including inspections, fault rectification, repairs, modifications and functional testing
- You will provide leadership and technical guidance to ensure work is completed safely, accurately and to schedule
- You will review and diagnose aircraft system performance, applying approved technical data and maintenance instructions
- You will ensure compliance with the Maintenance Organisation Exposition, tooling control and mandated procedures
- You will support team development, maintaining competencies, authorisations and on‑the‑job training.
Please note that this position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at RAF Valley, Holyhead. This will be working a five‑day early shift pattern starting at 06:00 (13:45 finish, 13:15 on Fridays). Shift allowance applies.
Essential experience of the Mechanical Supervisor:
- Proven experience supervising at technician level within an aviation maintenance environment
- Considerable experience as a fully competent aircraft technician with relevant authorities
- Demonstrable currency and recency of experience, evidenced through a technical logbook
- Strong working knowledge of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices
- Confident leadership and communication skills within a regulated operational setting.
Qualifications for the Mechanical Supervisor, B4T
- Completion of a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering or military equivalent
- City and Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance, or equivalent qualification
- HAWK aircraft experience or fast‑jet background would be an advantage.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
