As an Avionics Technician, you’ll be part of our specialist depth maintenance team, carrying out detailed and varied maintenance activities on aircraft and components. This is an exciting opportunity to support critical aviation operations while developing your technical expertise in a fast‑paced engineering environment. You’ll work with experienced colleagues, gain exposure to different maintenance tasks, and play a direct role in keeping aircraft safe, compliant and operational.
Day-to-day, you will:
- Complete depth maintenance and diagnostic activities, including inspections, repairs, modifications and system tests.
- Remove, replace and re‑fit aircraft components as required.
- Analyse faults and apply technical knowledge to identify solutions and improvements.
- Ensure maintenance tasks are completed to schedule and escalate issues appropriately.
- Support compliance tasks within the maintenance facility, such as tooling control and oversight checks.
This role is full time working 37.5 hours per week and is based on site at RAF Valley, Wales.
Essential experience of the Avionics Technician:
- Computer literate with the ability to use engineering systems and reporting tools.
- Previous experience applying engineering knowledge and practical technical skills.
- Experience contributing to the development, maintenance, operation or repair of equipment or systems.
- Ability to take personal responsibility and accountability in previous roles.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
Qualifications for the Avionics Technician:
- Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering, or Military equivalent.
- City & Guilds 2675 Aeronautical Engineering & Maintenance or NVQ Level 3 Aeronautical discipline.
- Candidates with Trade Principles and Aircraft Platform training will also be considered, subject to successful completion of the B3(T) pathway.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
