The role

As a Transport Coordinator, you'll play a vital role in supporting military training and operational activities by ensuring road transport resources are planned, coordinated and utilised effectively. Working within our Aviation business, you'll be the central point of expertise for transport planning, helping to maximise the use of Defence transport assets while supporting key RAF Air Cadets activities and regional requirements.

 

Day-to-day, you'll be required to:

  • Coordinate all road transport planning, scoping, booking and authorisation activities for RAF Air Cadets Headquarters requirements.
  • Liaise with Tri-Service Motor Transport units and external service providers to secure the most effective transport solutions.
  • Manage hire vehicle and private vehicle usage in accordance with Defence policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all required transport documentation, vehicle records and authorisations are accurately maintained.
  • Monitor vehicle returns, fuel cards and damage reporting processes to ensure compliance and accountability.

 

The role is based onsite at RAF Cranwell, and the set working times are Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 17:00 and Friday 08:00 to 16:00, totalling 39 hours per week.

 

Essential experience of the Transport Coordinator:

  • Experience using motor transport management systems, particularly Clarity Console.
  • Knowledge of RAF Motor Transport procedures and practices.
  • Understanding of relevant Defence transport regulations, JSP guidance and DVSA requirements.
  • Experience coordinating transport requests and vehicle utilisation activities.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

 

Qualifications for the Transport Coordinator:

  • Full clean UK Category B driving licence

 

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
