As an Aircraft Mechanical Supervisor, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring aircraft airworthiness, compliance and safe operation within a fast‑paced aviation environment. Working on Hawk aircraft used by the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, you’ll support the planning, supervision and delivery of mechanical maintenance tasks while promoting a strong culture of safety and quality. This is a unique opportunity to support globally recognised flying operations in a highly specialised environment.
Day-to-day, you will be:
- Supervising mechanical maintenance tasks to ensure compliance, airworthiness and high-quality engineering standards.
- Carrying out detailed mechanical inspections, flight servicing and first‑signature and second‑signature responsibilities.
- Supporting the Team Leader and aviation engineering managers with safe and effective maintenance practices.
- Ensuring accurate continuity between shifts through clear debriefing, record‑keeping and documentation.
- Undertaking delegated duties to support engineering output, quality assurance and operational readiness.
This is a full‑time, onsite role, working 37.5 hours per week, split between day and late shifts.
Essential experience of the Aircraft Mechanical Supervisor:
- Practical engineering background with strong mechanical technical skills.
- Understanding of quality, safety and environmental management systems.
- Knowledge of Ministry of Defence regulations including Part‑M and Part‑145.
- Ability to prioritise tasks, identify discrepancies and maintain high standards of airworthiness.
- Confident using information systems and resource‑planning tools.
Qualifications for the Aircraft Mechanical Supervisor:
- Extensive aviation experience with considerable experience in a technician‑level mechanical role.
- Mechanical systems type training.
- Supervisory training within an aviation environment.
- Aircraft maintenance qualification such as City and Guilds Aeronautical Engineering Level 3 or equivalent.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
