About the role
As a Software Engineering Lead at Babcock, you will provide strong leadership and management to a team of skilled engineers, fostering both their professional growth and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality software solutions. Working with limited guidance, you will drive the successful completion of engineering activities by effectively applying processes, resources, and tools.
You will be part of a global team responsible for the design, development, integration, and verification of software that underpins a major communications system, along with other related projects. Your role will span the entire software engineering lifecycle—from requirements derivation to development, integration, testing, and deployment.
About you
You are an experienced software engineer with a strong technical background and a passion for leadership. You thrive in a collaborative environment, guiding and mentoring your team to deliver high-quality software solutions while ensuring best practices are followed throughout the development lifecycle.
Your expertise spans the full software engineering lifecycle, from requirements specification to development, integration, testing, and deployment. You have a keen understanding of software development methodologies, particularly Agile, and are comfortable working with complex systems in a highly regulated environment.
To be successful in this position you will bring:
- Previous experience managing Software Development Squads.
- Extensive experience working in Software Development.
- Experience tutoring, mentoring, and developing Software Developers to high standards.
- Understanding and experience of Object-Oriented Programming.
- Experience in Java or other OO programming language.
- An understanding of Agile Software Engineering best practices.
