About the role  
 

In this role, you will be responsible for applying advanced engineering principles to develop innovative designs, perform critical calculations, and deliver effective technical solutions for Babcock’s products and services. You will play a key role in the engineering lifecycle, ensuring high standards across all stages of development.

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be accountable for the quality and accuracy of your work, while also providing leadership and guidance to colleagues. 

Whether managing a team or overseeing technical activities, your expertise will be instrumental in driving successful project outcomes. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to mentor and support others, helping to foster a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.

About you   
 

Are you passionate about contributing to large-scale defence projects? Babcock Australasia is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to support the delivery of our largest-ever contract, designed to equip the Australian Defence Force with cutting-edge capabilities.

To be successful, you will have a strong background in engineering principles and a proven track record of delivering high-quality designs, calculations, and technical solutions across various applications. 

With extensive experience, you take ownership of your work and are confident in managing complex engineering challenges. 

Your expertise allows you to guide teams effectively, and you take pride in mentoring and supporting colleagues to develop their technical skills and knowledge.

To be successful in this position you will bring:

• An accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or hold the recognised engineering qualifications to be eligible to obtain Professional Engineering category membership through a recognised body
• Extensive experience in technical/engineering roles
• Proficiency in applicable engineering  and requirements management toolsets (e.g. PLM or MRP systems and IBM DOORS)
• Working knowledge of SysML or comparable modelling languages for application to complex systems
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to foster meaningful relationships
• Experience in ASDEFCON (Australian Standard of Defence Contracting) environment

• Australian Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Commonwealth Defence Security Clearance, as defined by AGSVA guidelines
