About the Role

 
Babcock is actively seeking an experienced Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Advisor to play an essential role within our JP9101 Defence Program, where Babcock has taken the lead in managing and enhancing the existing Defence High Frequency (HF) Communications capability at multiple sites across Australia. This position will be instrumental in leading a variety of HSE initiatives with a strong emphasis on the management of construction safety and environmental hazards.

 

Working closely with the Senior HSE Advisor already embedded in the program, you will undertake HSE planning, implementing, assurance and advisory activities daily to meet Company, Customer and Legislative requirements. Ensuring the integrity of the Business Management Systems (BMS), JP9101 Health Safety and Environment Management Plan (HSEMP), Emergency Management Processes and contractual requirements are met and maintained throughout operational processes. The position will require developing and implementing a variety of management arrangements to effectively control and mitigate program risks. Work will align with WHS legislative mandates and adhere to international standards ISO 45001:2018 Safety Management, and 14001:2016 Environmental Management.
 

The role will support activities at a program level, helping to plan, develop, and implement HSE management arrangements and identify areas of non-compliance. Supporting the JP9101 program personnel with relevant HSE advice and support as required. In addition, the role will include undertaking monitoring and auditing activities and providing management information to report non-compliance and shortfalls.
 

You will bring:
 

  • Energy, knowledge and safety leadership skills and abilities.
  • Experience in a safety/environmental leadership or advisor role in a highly regulated or high-risk industry.
  • Sound knowledge of AS/NZS ISO 45001 and 14001 guidance,  WHS legislation and applicable standards.
  • Experience leading improvements in safety culture, workplace audits and investigating incidents.
  • Certificate lV qualification in Health and Safety Management.
  • Qualification as a Lead auditor.
  • Australian Citizen with a NV1 security clearance or the ability to obtain.
