As a Senior Configuration Management Engineering Technician, you’ll play a central role in maintaining configuration integrity across multiple ship configurations. It’s an exciting opportunity to support some of the world’s most advanced naval engineering programmes, ensuring every vessel is designed, built and supported with absolute precision.
You’ll be joining a highly skilled Configuration Management team working at the heart of major new ship‑build projects. Your work will influence critical decisions, support national defence capability, and contribute to engineering outcomes that protect people and the nation. This role also offers excellent exposure to complex engineering environments, accelerating your professional growth and expanding your technical expertise.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
- Support the implementation and execution of Configuration Management activities in line with project‑specific plans.
- Maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders across the shipbuilding community.
- Provide engineering expertise and advice relating to configuration accounts and technical documentation.
- Ensure accurate configuration data is captured and available to support technical decision‑making.
- Assist in delivering Configuration Management outputs on time, to cost and to quality.
This is a full‑time role based at Devonport, Rosyth or Bristol. Hybrid working patterns are available. Occasional UK travel may be required.
Essential experience of the Senior Configuration Management Engineering Technician:
- Using engineering documentation such as drawings and technical records to maintain configuration records.
- Understanding change management principles and the control of technical/project documentation.
- Working with Ministry of Defence processes and publications.
- Knowledge of Configuration Management Plans associated industry or Defence Standards.
- Experience of naval engineering or Royal Navy vessels, including familiarity with the CADMID product lifecycle or similar frameworks.
Qualifications for the Senior Configuration Management Engineering Technician:
- HNC/BTEC Level 4 in a STEM discipline or working towards this through professional development.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
