In this role, you will:
- Support and conduct coating/structural surveys and produce detailed survey reports
- Review and respond to technical queries and inspection reports and provide technical responses or engineering specifications, deviations or waiver requests
- Provide technical input to configuration change package development, implementation and as-fitted drawings
- Provide engineering support to the build-up and commissioning of Hull systems
- Draft repair specifications, including technical drawing packs, under the direct supervision of the responsible Sealing Professional Engineer for arising technical issues on submarines undergoing maintenance
- Provide assistance to the Senior Naval Architects for issues related to structural analysis, material selection, mechanical fasteners and alignment issues
- Witness inspection points, participate in Joint Test Groups and/or witness test form execution
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including the On Site Management Team, Production, Project Management, Material Certification, Quality Assurance and Supply Chain Departments
- Perform other duties as necessary or as assigned
The ideal candidate brings:
- A degree in Mechanical, Naval Architecture, or Civil Engineering from an accredited Canadian University, or equivalent
- Registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in British Columbia or able to complete such registration
- Familiarity with naval architecture and structures
- Familiarity with submarine naval architecture and structures (an asset)
- Marine, offshore oil and gas drilling or naval vessel operational experience (an asset)
- Strong computer skills including MS Office suite
- You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
