The role
As a Vehicle Operative, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. An opportunity has arisen at Wattisham Flying Station for a Vehicle Operative working at 7 Aviation Close Support Battalion REME

 

Day to day, you’ll help with the servicing, maintenance (both scheduled and unscheduled) of equipment, as well as:

 

  • Carry out repairs in accordance with Technical Publications as directed within all Health and Safety guidelines. 
  • Carry out routine inspections in accordance with Technical Publications within all Health and Safety guidelines.
  • All work is carried out and recorded in line with unit working practices and processes.
  • Always ensure that appropriate clothing is worn and that Personal Protective Clothing (PPE) is used (PPE is provided).
  • Ensure work areas are always clean and free from hazards.
  • Follow agreed “Safe Systems of Work” wearing appropriate provided PPE when required

 

This role is full time, 38 hours, based onsite at Wattisham Flying Station.

 

Essential experience of the Vehicle Operative:

  • City and Guilds Craft Studies 381 or equivalent. 
  • Good hand skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work on own initiatives with defined guidelines.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good organisational skills

 

Qualifications for the Vehicle Operative:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
