About the role

 

Ready to start your career journey as a B1 (mechanical) or B2 (avionics) Licenced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer in Aviation?

 

Located in Horn Island, we have an exciting opportunity for an apprentice to join the team and learn from the industry’s leading professionals.  Our team is made up of people who understand our business inside and out, and experts from different fields who challenge us to do things differently.

 

Under supervision, you will learn how to maintain, service and repair Babcock’s aircraft and carry out planned maintenance in accordance with Company and manufacturer’s procedures.

 

Depending on the trade, typically your role will include; 

 

Avionics Apprentice - maintains, inspects and undertakes fault diagnostics of electrical, instrument and radio systems and accessories on the aircraft. These include power generation and distribution systems, ignition and engine monitoring systems, autopilot and integrated flight systems, environmental control systems, radar and communication systems.

 

Mechanical Apprentice - maintains, inspect and undertake fault diagnosis of airframe, engine systems and mechanical components and accessories on aircraft. These include undercarriage, wheels and brakes, pressurisation, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, flight control systems, engine control systems and pressurisation and environmental control systems. 

 

About you

 

We are looking for someone who has a genuine passion to learn and grow in this industry. 

 

To be successful, the skills and abilities required include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Have mechanical aptitude
  • Passion for helicopters and aviation
  • Have passed a minimum of Year 10 English and Mathematics 
  • You will need to be self-motivated and have a mature attitude to complete the required studies and pass exams
  • Have good communication skills, including fluent spoken and written English
  • The ability to obtain and hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
