The role

As a Fleet Maintenance Manager, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the operational readiness and safety of a specialist vehicle fleet supporting defence operations. Leading a skilled team of technicians, you’ll oversee maintenance delivery, drive compliance, and ensure assets are available when they’re needed most.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to combine hands-on engineering leadership with operational management in a highly regulated and purpose-driven environment, where your work directly contributes to national security.

 

Day-to-day, you will be:

 

  • Leading and managing a team of technicians to deliver servicing, repairs, and preventative maintenance
  • Planning and coordinating all fleet maintenance activities to maximise vehicle availability
  • Overseeing diagnostics, fault identification, and repair decision-making
  • Managing workshop assets, tooling, and spare parts inventory
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

 

This is a full-time role working 39 hours per week, based on site at RAF Valley.

 

Essential experience of the Fleet Maintenance Manager:

  • Experience working within or alongside a military or highly regulated workshop environment
  • Strong knowledge of HGV maintenance operations and fleet management systems
  • Understanding of ADR regulations and specialist vehicles such as fuel bowsers
  • Experience producing and implementing risk assessments and COSHH documentation
  • Proven experience in procurement, supply chain processes, or local purchasing.

 

Qualifications for the Fleet Maintenance Manager:

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a Mechanical or Electrical discipline
  • Valid UK HGV driving licence (Category C or C+E)

 

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (SC) security clearance for this role.
