About the role
As the custodian of supplier compliance for the maritime maintenance contract, this role ensures suppliers are appropriately qualified, compliant, and equipped to deliver high-quality outcomes safely and effectively. By establishing strong onboarding, performance monitoring, and feedback mechanisms, the role fosters continuous improvement and close alignment between Procurement and Maintenance, mitigating risk and driving supplier excellence.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and maintain a capability-based supplier assurance framework aligned to maritime maintenance trade requirements, ensuring suppliers are assessed on technical competency, workforce capability, and operational readiness, in addition to standard compliance requirements.
- Lead supplier onboarding assurance activities, assessing technical capability, safety performance, trade suitability, and previous performance to ensure suppliers are suitably qualified to support contract delivery. Collaborate with Procurement, Quality, and HSEQ stakeholders to support robust approval decisions.
- Conduct desktop reviews and onsite supplier assurance audits to evaluate ongoing compliance with trade, safety, quality, and contractual requirements, identifying risks and opportunities for continuous improvement within the supplier network.
Ideally you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in supplier assurance, quality, compliance, procurement, or a related discipline, ideally gained within maintenance, engineering, maritime, defence, or other complex operational environments.
- Working knowledge of Category Management, Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), and Supplier Performance Management (SPM) principles, with the ability to apply these frameworks to support supplier capability and performance outcomes.
- Experience assessing supplier capability and suitability, including evaluation of technical competency, workforce qualifications, trade-specific requirements, operational capacity, and safety performance.
- Proven ability to conduct supplier assurance activities, including audits, site assessments, compliance reviews, and performance evaluations, identifying risks and opportunities to drive continuous improvement.
- Qualifications in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, Finance, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field are desirable, however, relevant industry experience and demonstrated capability will be equally valued.
- Formal auditing or assurance training, such as ISO 9001 Internal Auditor certification or equivalent, is advantageous and will support success in the role.
