Specialist Safety Advisor

The SH&EP Lead is responsible for driving the strategic delivery and continuous improvement of Safety, Health & Environment and Protection (SH&EP) systems across complex projects and operational environments. This role provides expert guidance on risk management, compliance, and performance, ensuring organisational and regulatory expectations are consistently met.

 

You will mentor staff, engage effectively with stakeholders, and champion a proactive, positive safety culture. Through your leadership, you will influence behaviours, strengthen operational capability, and embed best‑practice SH&EP processes that support safe, sustainable, and high‑performing project delivery.

  

You will be based at the iconic Australian Marine Complex based in Henderson, and on Garden Island, WA. 

You will have a tertiary qualification in Health, Safety, Environment, Risk or Quality or a related field; proven experience in a similar SH&EP‑focused role with demonstrated experience conducting operational safety audits, leading safety investigations, and processing or reviewing Hazard and Safety Occurrence Reports.

 

Importantly, you’ll have extensive experience in Industrial Health and Hygiene, applying best‑practice principles to monitor and manage workplace exposures; extensive experience in Environmental Protection, including compliance, monitoring, and incident response; strong working knowledge of WH&S legislation and Operational Risk Management; proficiency in conducting trend analysis and developing effective improvement or remedial action plans; and a solid understanding of Safety Management Systems and their application across complex operational environments.

 

Also, to be successful you will have:

  • Australian Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance
  • Current AU Drivers Licence
