About the Role

In this role, you’ll apply your engineering expertise to support the management of technical change and deliver high‑quality engineering solutions for the ANZAC Class Frigates across the full product lifecycle. You’ll lead and contribute to multi‑domain technical investigations, applying sound judgement to assess problems, develop improvements, and ensure safe, compliant, and effective outcomes. Your work will span planning and delivering your own tasks, reviewing technical documentation, and ensuring all engineering activities meet required standards of time, cost, and quality.

You will also play a key role in maintaining accurate technical records, supporting formal design reviews, and presenting engineering information to internal and external stakeholders. As part of a collaborative engineering environment, you’ll contribute to process improvement, support sustainable and innovative solutions, and help strengthen capability across the wider organisation through knowledge sharing and sound engineering advice.

 

 

About You

You’re an experienced Mechanical Engineer with the ability to work independently, produce high‑quality outputs, and confidently manage engineering activities through strong domain knowledge and practical experience. You bring a solid understanding of design, analysis, manufacturing, and support techniques, along with the ability to apply broad technical knowledge to complex situations. Your background includes defining requirements, reviewing designs and calculations, and making informed engineering decisions across multiple domains.

You’re also someone who contributes positively to team culture- mentoring others, sharing good practice, and supporting the development of colleagues. 

 

 

To be successful in this position you will bring:

  • Around six years of relevant experience in technical or engineering roles.

  • Strong understanding of engineering toolsets such as PLM or MRP systems, and design, simulation, and analysis software.

  • Previous experience within the maritime defence sector.

  • Accredited bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Washington Accord) or equivalent qualifications eligible for Professional Engineer membership.

  • Membership with a recognised engineering body, ideally chartered, with a commitment to ongoing professional development (CPD).
