Take on a pivotal leadership role overseeing the financial management of the RMP West contract, where your expertise will directly influence operational performance, strategic planning, and financial outcomes across the Marine Business Unit. This is an opportunity to lead a high‑performing finance team, shape financial strategy, and support continuous improvement across a major Defence contract.

About the Role

The Finance Manager for RMP West leads all financial activities across the contract, ensuring high‑quality financial support, strong governance, and alignment with Babcock’s strategic and operational goals. With a balanced focus on short‑term priorities and medium‑term planning, you will anticipate financial challenges, adapt priorities, and provide insights that enable informed decision‑making and positive financial outcomes.

 

Success in this role is demonstrated through the delivery of required financial results, the development of a high‑performing Finance team, and the ability to influence stakeholders through expert financial leadership.

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage financial activities across the RMP West contract.

  • Oversee financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting to support decision‑making.

  • Anticipate financial risks and opportunities, adjusting plans as needed.

  • Ensure alignment between financial reporting, contract objectives, and operational activity.

  • Drive continuous improvement in finance processes, systems, and capabilities.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Finance team.

  • Partner with the contract leadership team on initiatives and transformation programs.

  • Maintain strong financial governance, compliance, and record‑keeping.

  • Understand the Contract and Contract Management Plan; support Contract Change Proposals and estimates.

  • Comply with all relevant HSE and Trade Controls policies.

  • Embed the Babcock Principles in all aspects of work.

  • Ensure financial activities are managed within agreed delegations.

About You

You are an experienced finance professional with strong capability in financial business partnering and relationship building across operational teams. You bring a proactive, solutions‑focused approach, with the ability to anticipate challenges, influence stakeholders, and guide teams through change.

You excel at leading and developing people, managing performance, and delivering results through others. Your technical accounting knowledge, hands‑on ERP and spreadsheeting skills, and ability to interpret complex financial information enable you to provide high‑quality insights that shape contract performance.

You communicate clearly, collaborate effectively, and embody the Babcock Principles in how you lead and deliver outcomes.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Extensive experience in financial business partnering across operational environments.

  • Proven line management experience with the ability to lead and develop teams.

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge.

  • Extensive ERP and advanced spreadsheeting capability.

  • Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.

  • CA/CPA membership (or working toward).

  • Current Motor Vehicle Driver’s Licence.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain NV1 Security Clearance and access to FOUO/ITAR‑controlled material.
