As a Non-Destructive Examination Multi Skilled Operative, you'll join a specialist team supporting inspection activities that help maintain the safety, reliability, and operational readiness of some of the UK's most important defence assets. This is a hands-on role where you'll play a vital part in supporting industrial radiography and inspection operations, contributing directly to national security and engineering excellence.
Working alongside experienced inspection professionals, you'll gain valuable exposure to advanced engineering environments while developing specialist skills within the defence and nuclear sectors. Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
- Providing barrier sentry support for site radiography activities
- Assisting inspection teams with the setup, operation, and dismantling of specialist equipment
- Supporting inspection activities to help deliver business objectives safely, efficiently, and on schedule
- Following safe systems of work, health and safety legislation, and control of work processes
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and contribute to increased productivity and performance.
This role is 37 hours per week, based on site at HMNB Clyde. Shift patterns for this role are varied in accordance with agreed working arrangements and operational requirements.
Essential experience of the Non-Destructive Examination Multi Skilled Operative:
- Experience working within safe systems of work and regulated environments
- Understanding of risk assessments and safe working practices
- Experience of manual handling activities within industrial settings
- Knowledge of submarine layouts or experience working in comparable complex engineering environments
- Experience in industrial radiography or non-destructive examination would be advantageous.

- Confined Spaces for Competent Persons
- Radiation Worker Training
- Manual Handling certification
- Occasional Climber / Working at Heights certification
- Submarine Familiarisation training
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
