The Role

As a Communications Engineer, you’ll support the delivery, maintenance and optimisation of essential communications infrastructure that underpins defence operations in the UK and overseas. This role sits within our Mission Systems business, where we design, build, maintain and support advanced systems that keep people, assets and nations safe.

 

You’ll play a central part in ensuring critical communications equipment performs to the highest operational standards. From preventative and corrective maintenance to supporting engineering teams on complex technical challenges, you’ll help ensure the systems our customers depend on remain safe, resilient and mission‑ready. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to grow your technical expertise, broaden your engineering experience, and contribute to work that protects the UK and its allies.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

  • Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance to keep communication systems and control equipment performing to operational standards.
  • Support engineering colleagues in resolving operational and technical issues across the site.
  • Maintain accurate technical and administrative records, ensuring essential information is captured and reported.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others by following all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all regulatory, technical and operational requirements relevant to the equipment and systems you support.

 

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days onsite and days working from home.

 

Essential experience of the Stores and Quality Controller

 

  • Proven ability within a similar technical, operational or maintenance environment.
  • Competence in carrying out maintenance and operational engineering tasks.
  • Ability to work to demanding timescales with a high level of self‑motivation.
  • Strong problem‑solving ability with awareness of emerging technical developments.
  • Basic computer skills and foundational knowledge of data communications and networking technologies.

 

Qualifications for the Stores and Quality Controller

 

Essential:

  • BTEC National Diploma in Engineering (Electronic/Electrical) or equivalent qualification
  • Full UK driving licence

 

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a SOLE UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance for this role.
