The Role
As a Mechanical and Electrical Design Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is a progressive opportunity to work within a supportive team environment, where you will utilise your skills and enthusiasm to design, develop, integrate and test mission critical systems, at the cutting edge of their domain.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll will be working on multiple engineering projects. Your work will be intrinsic to the service and products we deliver to our customers. Tasks you will be responsible for:

 

  • Delivery of designs for engineering work packages to agreed budget, timescales, requirements, and quality objectives.
  • Ensuring that the appropriate engineering documentation is produced in accordance with Babcock's Quality.
  • Management System (QMS) and Engineering Management Plans.
  • Support the Prime Contract Programme Office (PCPO) team and the Solutions team as required, in the preparation of estimates, bid documentation, specification, pricing, tender, Gate and proposal documents for new opportunities.
  • To manage Original Equipment Manufacturer and specialist contractors and to witness and supervise acceptance tests and associated activities.
  • To produce electrical or mechanical designs and drawings as required.
  • Completion of UK Conformity Assessed approval activities including documentation.
  • Overseeing system engineers in the integration and test activities required to validate designs and ensure compliance with Customer requirements.

 

This role is full time, 37 hours per week primarily working out of our Ashchurch site in Tewkesbury. There may be any opportunity for some hybrid working dependent on project requirements and discussion with Project Leads and Line Manager.

 

Essential Experience of the Senior Mechanical and Electrical Design Engineer

  • Demonstrable experience as a M&E Designer in a previous role.
  • Able to prioritise and deliver work within a team across multiple projects.
  • Experienced user of Computer-Aided Design systems for design, modelling, simulation and draughting.

 

Qualifications for the Mechanical and Electrical Design Engineer

  • A professionally recognised qualification in M&E Design (HNC/HND/Diploma/Degree etc)

 

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain an Enhanced Developed Vetting (EDV) Security Clearance For this role.  Initially a Security Check (SC) will be sufficient to start the role for a successful candidate.  If a SC is not already held a successful candidate can start on Standard (BPSS) with the vision to obtain and maintain Enhanced Developed Vetting (EDV).
