The role

As a Human Performance Data Lead, you’ll translate complex human performance data into clear, actionable intelligence that shapes programme decisions and policy.

 

Day-to-day, your work will help optimise performance in high‑pressure environments improving outcomes for customers and communities and will accelerate your own growth through exposure to meaningful, insight‑driven projects at the heart of national defence.

 

  • Lead the interpretation of human performance data and convert it into insight that informs strategic and operational decisions.
  • Design and maintain dashboards, models and reports (e.g., Python, R, Excel, SQL, Tableau, Power BI) to monitor trends and measure impact.
  • Partner across departments and with external stakeholders to communicate findings and embed an insight‑led approach to performance optimisation.
  • Shape investment priorities by evidencing outcomes and recommending data‑driven improvements.
  • Champion data quality, governance and continuous improvement across performance platforms (e.g., AWS, SAP, Oracle).

 

This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and is based on site in Herefordshire. 

 

Essential experience of the Human Performance Data Lead

  • Proven experience in an analytical or insight‑focused role within performance, health, defence, elite sport, or other high‑pressure environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to turn data into insight that directly informs programme decisions or policy.
  • Proficiency with analytical tools such as Python, Foundry, R, Excel (advanced), SQL, Tableau and Power BI.
  • Experience working with or managing data platforms such as AWS, SAP or Oracle.
  • Strong problem‑solving and critical thinking skills with excellent attention to detail.

 

Qualifications for the Human Performance Data Lead

  • Essential: Minimum Master’s degree (MSc) in Data Science, Statistics, Analytics, Psychology, Sports Science, or a related discipline with a strong analytical component.
  • Preferred: PhD in a relevant discipline.

 

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) / Developed Vetting (DV) and Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) for this role.
