The role
As a Gun Fitter / Armourer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing firearms and other weapons.  

 

Day to day, you’ll inspect all wheeled vehicles that have weapon mounts – including protected mobility fleet and track vehicles which will include Warrior and Challenger two Tanks:

 

  • Diagnose, inspect and assess weapon systems, vehicles and associated mechanical / electrical equipment 
  • Completion of vehicle and equipment documentation and test certificates to current standards 
  • Responsible for keeping weapons and related equipment in safe and working order
  • Carry out stock checks 

 

Essential experience of the Gun Fitter/Armourer

  • Armourer experience 
  • IT proficient 
  • Experience in Periscopes is desirable 
  • JAMES system experience is desirable

 

This is a full-time role, based on-site at Ashchurch.

 

Qualifications for the Gun Fitter/Armourer

  • NVQ level 3 in mechanical engineering 

 

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
