As a Managing Quantity Surveyor within our Land – Rail business, you will take full commercial ownership of major contracts from award through to completion. You will protect project profitability, lead commercial governance, manage contractual risk, and build strong relationships with clients and supply chain partners. This is a role where your commercial expertise will shape project outcomes and provide lasting value to customers and communities.
Day-to-day, you will be:
- Leading the commercial management of contracts, ensuring compliance with all contractual requirements from award to final account.
- Driving profitability and cash performance through effective cost control, change management, negotiation and financial reporting.
- Managing commercial deliverables including subcontract procurement, cash collection, compensation events, variations and contractual notifications.
- Building and maintaining strong commercial relationships with clients and supply chain partners, resolving issues and identifying opportunities.
- Providing leadership, guidance and mentorship to commercial team members to ensure high‑quality delivery and development.
This is a full‑time, permanent opportunity working thirty‑five hours per week, Monday to Friday. The position is hybrid, requiring a minimum of three days each week at Cadder Yard, near Glasgow, Scotland.
Essential experience of the Managing Quantity Surveyor:
- Proven experience delivering contracts valued between five million and thirty million pounds.
- Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Experience leading and developing commercial staff.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
Qualifications for the Managing Quantity Surveyor:
Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent qualification.
