The Business Improvement Specialist role is based within our Babcock Corporate Services (BCS) business unit.

 

Babcock Corporate Services (BCS) is a global function, with our largest site being Lakeside in Portsmouth, but we operate from multiple sites around the world.  BCS supplies and operates all IT, security, procurement, and finance Shared Services.  We are embedded alongside the operations that we serve, enabling us to maintain close working relationships that support delivery to our customers. We drive standardisation, simplification and automation across Babcock, to help generate sustainable value for the group and our external customers

Business Improvement Specialist will make

As a Business Improvement Specialist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. As part of the Digital Solutions team within Babcock Naval Marine you’ll form part of a diverse and inclusive team of talented people that provide specialist knowledge management and technical expertise on a range of interesting products, technologies and collaborative solutions that support both our internal and external Royal Navy customers.

 

Day to day, you’ll support the business improvement lead in defining and planning business improvement initiatives and delivering improvement projects. You’ll help enable changes that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Digital solutions business. You’ll provide technical expertise in business improvement and Change Management principles and tools to enable identification and delivery of improvement opportunities as well as analysing operational performance and identification of performance improvement initiatives

Essential experience
 

  • A demonstrable track record in delivering improvement projects
  • Good analytical skills coupled with a strong technical background gained during post-academic commercial experience
  • Practical experience of taking projects through the full system development lifecycle
  • Experience of root cause analysis and problem solving
  • Experience of creating detailed written reports and giving effective presentations
  • A solid understanding of the software delivery lifecycle
