About the role

As one of our Retail Assistants you will be required to provide a high level of customer service to our Serving Military Personnel. Our team are multi-skilled and work flexibly across our retail and leisure outlets including our onsite shop, café, post office and ten pin bowling facilities. You will be given barista and food hygiene training to support working in the café and hot food operation.


You will be responsible for keeping areas tidy and within hygiene standards, handling of cash and tobacco products/alcohol, promoting products, stock handling and rotation, and the preparation of hot and cold food and beverages.
You will be operating Electronic Point of Sales (EPOS terminals) and/or cash registers, dealing with the collection and sign out of float and reconciliation of cash/credit transactions whilst taking on the responsibility of reporting any anomalies to the Duty Retail Coordinator.

What do I need to do the role?
You will have previous customer service experience ideally within a retail / leisure / coffee shop / post office or hospitality environment and previous working experience within stock management, cash handling, and operating electronic point of sales.


You will be able to problem solve and be a pro-active team player with a good knowledge of H&S and food hygiene.

This role is based at HM Naval Base Clyde, located 6 miles north of Helensburgh in the West of Scotland. We are well placed for commuter links to Glasgow and the wider region, with easy access for car and public transport.
Operational hours are between 06:00 to 21.30 Monday to Thursday, Friday to 18:30 and Saturday/Sunday to 20.30, with rotas being set in advance. We have a number of opportunities working from 16 to 20 hours per week and are currently recruiting for the following shift options;


  • 16hrs a week Monday to Friday
  • 16hrs a week Saturday and Sunday
  • 20hrs a week Monday to Friday
  • 20hrs flexible over 7 days
