Business Improvement Senior Practitioner
HMNB Clyde, Faslane
£42,000 – £47,000 dependent on experience

About the Role

Here at Babcock International, we are the Ministry of Defence’s commercial partner at HMNB Clyde and we provide highly specialist engineering support services, including the management of critical infrastructure and nuclear facilities.
To ensure we keep the naval base running safely and efficiently, we have recently had an organisational change where our Operating Experience Feedback (OEF) Service has become a vital part of our Health and Safety Improvement Team at HMNB Clyde. Therefore, we are now looking for a Business Improvement Senior Practitioner to join the team and be responsible for supporting health and safety continuous improvements.

Our Operating Experience Feedback (OEF) Service improves safety performance and delivers output efficiencies through a combination of reactive analysis of site events and non-conformances, information exchange with other industries and pro-active support for business improvements. As the Business Improvement Senior Practitioner, you will be the technical lead for the implementation of the OEF strategy and your primary responsibility will be to compiling data and trends to present to Babcock, MoD and Royal Navy Board Members.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Review the output from base-wide events analysis and identify focus areas for LFE activity.
  • Identify the best tools, techniques and approaches to utilise in order to capture, trend and analyse all site events, non-conformances, quality failures, investigations and other data sources.
  • Lead the facilitation and delivery of multiple operational safety improvement projects, cascading the most appropriate techniques/solutions to all areas and people involved.
  • Lead the maintenance and utilisation of a system of performance indicators for all safety disciplines with particular emphasis on leading indicators, which drive pre-emptive safety improvement actions.
  • Lead the development and management of communications, presentations and training packages to ensure the sharing and targeted delivery of health and safety and OEF information across the base.

What do I need to do the role?

Ideally, you will hold a degree in Engineering, APMP or Six Sigma (Green Belt). You will have proven Project Management experience and good IT skills (Microsoft Office). In addition, you will have experience working in the marine or nuclear sector but this is not essential.
What else do I need to know?

This role is based at HM Naval Base Clyde, located 6 miles north of Helensburgh in the West of Scotland. We are well placed for commuter links to Glasgow and the wider region, with easy access for car and public transport.
You must be able to achieve Security Clearance before starting in the position. This role may be considered for flexible working, please ask for more details at your interview.
