Clyde

The HR Business Partner is based within our Clyde business area.

As the Ministry of Defence’s commercial partner at HMNB Clyde, Babcock provides specialist engineering support services, including the management of infrastructure and nuclear facilities. We also deliver operational maintenance, upgrades and repairs to support Royal Navy vessels, including the Vanguard and Astute-Class nuclear submarines.  

 

The role

The difference our new HR Business Partner will make
As a HR Business Partner, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. As part of an HR operational team who work closely with business senior leaders, line managers and our trade unions to help build organisation and people capability, shape and implement effective people strategies and activities and develop approaches that support the achievement of shared organisational objectives.

The role acts as the single point of people expertise for a business area, leading the implementation of specific people/organisation programs, projects, and initiatives, liaising with HR Centres of Expertise and HR Shared Services as required to successfully support the business area.  

 

Day to day, you’ll establish and maintain strong, pro-active partnerships with business leaders, line managers and trade unions to partner with the business on a full range of both strategic and operational HR issues.

Working with our business leaders to design and lead implementation of fit for purpose organisational design activity as applicable.  Ability to manage multiple projects and demonstrate strong project management skills and experience.  You will lead, develop and execute people related projects and programme change activity ensuring alignment with both the Naval Nuclear and Clyde HR Strategies.

Foster and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including colleagues, employees, Managers and Trade Union representatives, to ensure positive industrial relations, sustain effective working relationships and provide pragmatic and innovative HR solutions.

Keep up to date with Employment Law legislation and external best practice to be able to apply subject matter expertise to the development of policy, process or approach and ensuring added value to the business.

Ensure robust and compliant HR policies and practices are in place to support the business and our people (annually reviewing and updating in line with legislative changes, proactive implementation or changing internal business requirements).

Essential Experience
•    Proven experience in an HRBP position with a deep knowledge of HR professional practice which may be achieved through professional qualification to postgraduate level or equivalent experience
•    Knowledge and experience with Industrial Relations good practice and proficient knowledge of employment law, its practical application and prevention of litigation risk.
•    Ability to influence at each level of the business. High attention to detail, effective planning, organisational and written and communication skills.
•    Proven delivery in delivering difficult and/or complex projects i.e., transformational change.
•    Proven experience in ER, including working and successful consultation and negotiation with Trade Unions in a unionised environment. 
•    Minimum CIPD qualified to Level 5 or working towards a Level 7 CIPD qualification with relevant experience gained within a complex business or equivalent experience.
•    You will hold or have the ability to obtain SC clearance
