The role
As a Senior Facilities Operative, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be carrying out routine maintenance and defect repair to a range of systems onsite.


Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities: 

  • Complete all reactive and planned maintenance works within contractual timescales and best practice guidelines and in accordance with approved Codes of Practice in both the Astute Training Facility and Helensburgh Office.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities and work are carried out in accordance with the Safety, Health and Environment policy, quality requirements and safe systems of work. Ensure that all procurement and/or contractual maintenance agreements represent Value for Money and best practice.
  • Implement Legionella management within the ATF and HBO, taking, recording and analysing system readings.
  • Assist in establishing, monitoring and reviewing of Safety Health and Environmental standards within the ATF and HBO. Including reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements and the issue Of Permits to Work as and when required.
  • Provide a 24/7/365 Call out FM capability to address any alarms, incidents or events that occur within the ATF.

This role is full time and based onsite at our Helensburgh site. The shift pattern for this role is 7am – 3:30pm Monday to Thursday and 7am – 12pm on Friday.


Essential experience of the Senior Facilities Operative:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of mechanical and pressure systems.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Facilities Maintenance (FM) operations, including legislative and regulatory requirements applicable to an FM operation.
  • Experience of use of FM Management Information tools, including maintaining currency of data and reporting.


Qualifications for the Senior Facilities Operative:

  • Mechanical Trade to NVQ/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
