The role
As a Senior Electrical Engineer you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Babcock is establishing a new “Safe to Operate” team at HMNB Clyde. We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join this team.

“Safe to Operate” means having safe and compliant infrastructure, assets and equipment and in conjunction with appropriate processes, and suitably qualified and experienced personnel, can deliver our operations and outputs and meet the requirements of the customer.  

Day to day, you’ll work with all other specialists in “Safe to Operate” team receive and review the information regarding the buildings in the Asset Management Plan (AMP)
•    Collate procedure, working instruction, risk assessment and policy relevant to the task / activity in the buildings.
•    Develop and then undertake specific inspections of the buildings systems to determine adequacy of state against relevant good practice.
•    Provide a technical interface with internal and external stakeholders at a detailed level.
•    Review and assess adequacy of maintenance, defect, performance/operability etc and together with the actual condition, assess status and whether the system/building is safe to operate.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and will be based at our Faslane site with hybrid working from home arrangements available. 

Essential experience of the Senior Electrical Engineer:
•    Comprehensive understanding of electrical engineering principles.
•    Technical experience of electrical building services systems
•    Experience and understanding across a range of related legislation, standards and regulation as they relate to the built environment both commercially and industrially. 
•    Experience of reviewing, interpreting and assessing the findings of Electrical Inspection and Testing Certification across a range of systems and to relevant standards with an understanding of associated defect codes, their meaning and severity. 

Qualifications for the Senior Electrical Engineer: 

•    Electrical Engineering/Building Services degree with demonstrable relevant experience and capability within the electrical discipline.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
