The role
As a Safety Case Engineer you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Your role will be to evaluate the risks associated with all nuclear operations conducted within HMNB Clyde and demonstrate through provision of safety justifications that the risks are ALARP. This Includes, production, maintenance and development of the HMNB Clyde Authorised and certified suite of Site Safety Justification (SSJ) documentation in order to achieve the continued permissioning of nuclear activities.

You’ll also support the implementation of a site wide Periodic Safety Review (PSR) programme and as part of that support provide independent technical assessment of the nuclear facilities at HMNB Clyde, when requested to co-ordinate PSR resources.

 

Day-to-day, Under the guidance of a Senior Safety Case Engineer (LM) or Senior Safety Case Engineer you’ll: 

  • Produce on average one Periodic Safety Review report per year and support through Clyde Due Process. 
  • Maintain a Facility/Utility Safety Case.
  • Produce on average a Safety Justification for an emergent task per year.
  • Represent DSJG at NSAG/DNSAG meetings, average of 2 meetings per week.
  • Provide Single Point of contact for a single Facility/Utility.

This role is full time 36 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements and is in Faslane.

 

Essential experience of the Safety Case Engineer:

  • Knowledge of Safety Case and  Facility infrastructure and operations.
  • Experience of Engineering process
  • Knowledge of NRP/Submarine systems and operations would be beneficial

 

Qualifications for the Safety Case Engineer 

  • HNC in Engineering or Equivalent
  • Safety Case Engineers Course

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
