As an SSE Clyde Waterfront Senior Engineer you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This role provides an exciting opportunity to work within the high tempo and technically challenging environment of nuclear submarine maintenance and repair to provide submarine engineering support at the waterfront to ensure our submarine crews and our Nation remain safe.   

Day to day, you’ll work within a small team of professional engineers based in our Clyde Waterfront Support Office, drawing on your knowledge, diagnostic skills and experience to independently make recommendations around the following; system operations, defect history, material specification, temporary/permanent repair options, alternative stores, repair time and impact on the submarine programme.

Essential experience

•    Experienced engineer with a good understanding of nuclear submarines and their associated ship, weapons and propulsion systems.
•    An understanding of basic construction, major equipment fitted and a submarine’s operational routines
•    Knowledge of how maintenance projects are planned and executed 
•    You will need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving ‘Security Check’ (SC) clearance.
