Salary: £32,900 - £44,000

About this role:
Here at Babcock International we are looking to recruit an experienced naval or marine structural architect / constructive engineer to join our Engineering Inspection services team at HMNB Clyde to support delivery of our fleet inspection and compliance programme.

Role Purpose:
The main objectives of the Professional Officer (PO) role is to ensure that submarine hull surveys have been conducted in accordance with DEFSTAN 08-145 and platform specific survey requirements (HSR & SSR).

The PO will review and close D171 and D237a Survey items on Collaborative Working Environment (CWE) ensuring all items are actioned as instructed by the DA and that the required reports are completed to an acceptable standard and attached.  The PO is also required to produce a PO’s report on completion of each docked maintenance period

Key Responsibilities:
•    Survey and Result of Survey close out on CWE meeting DA requirements & acceptable standard
•    Survey quality improvement through training and coaching of Surveyors maintain SQEP levels
•    Timely production of PO report to the required standard
•    Ensure that all tasks are carried out in accordance with the Company’s cost, time and quality requirements.
•    Implementation of the Company Safety, Quality and Environmental policies ensuring that assessments of risk are carried out which lead to safe working attitudes and practices.
•    Resolution of survey discrepancies
•    Documentation reviews and physical audits of Survey and Result of Survey (RoS) work to ensure that it has been completed to the required standard
•    Establish good working relationships with the DA as Babcock point of contact

What do I need to do the role?
You will be a Naval Architect/Maritime Constructive Engineer ideally of Chartered status or have equivalent demonstrable submarine / maritime structural experience.

Knowledge of relevant standards and systems, e.g. Defence Standards, British Standards, Classification Society Rules and Regulatory body requirements.

Knowledge of survey scope, i.e. worklists and specifications.

Excellent communication skills at all levels

Knowledge of Marine Survey, NDE Examination Techniques and their application
