The role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. An exciting opportunity for a hands-on engineer passionate about developing innovative solutions for diverse challenges.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll support the Senior Mechanical Engineer (TCA) and TCA Manager in handling all non-nuclear safety-implicated (Non-NSI) mechanical design requests for HMNB Clyde, following NNSI TCA processes and policies. Additionally, you will:

 

•           Assist the Senior Mechanical Engineer (TCA) and TCA Manager in maximising the utilisation and the efficiency of all the section’s resource.

•           Ensure that all tasks are carried out in accordance with the Company’s cost, time and quality requirements.

•           Implement HMNB Clyde’s Company Safety, Security, Quality and Environmental policies in the Facility Design section ensuring that assessments of risks are carried out which lead to safe working attitudes and practices.

•           Provide conceptual and detailed Mechanical and Building Services Engineering designs across HMNB Clyde for Naval Base Projects, Facility Managers, and in-house customers for projects valued at under £25k. For projects exceeding £25k, the post holder will set briefs and specifications while conducting review and approval of third-party designs.

•           Support other Naval Base and Depot Organisations with respect to reviewing and approving Design Proposals, Contract Specification Documents to ensure compatibility with Statutory, JSP and Depot Standards.

 

This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday to Thursday and provides hybrid working arrangements.

Qualifications for the Mechanical Design Engineer

•           Recognised Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent

 

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
