The role
As a Mechanical Calibration Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will, diagnose and repair Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) and nucleonic Radiation Detection & Monitoring Equipment (RDME).

Day-to-day, you’ll calibrate instrumentation over a wide range of measurement parameters

  • Ensure all tasks are carried out in accordance with the Company’s cost, time and quality requirements. (AC17)
  • Implementation of the Company Safety, Quality and Environmental policies in the Instrumentation and Calibration area of the business ensuring that assessments of risks are carried out which lead to safe working attitudes and practices. (AC17)
  • Produce and validate procedures, highlighting changes by raising a Calibration Trouble and Failure Report (CTFR) in accordance with Trident documentation.
  • Lead and participate in measurement audits as part of the US / UK Inter Laboratory Comparison Programme (ILCP) to ensure the Facilities future parameter re-certification.
  • Produce hard and soft copy documents and/or software calibration procedures and checklists for new calibration systems.

 

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based at our Faslane site. 

 

Essential experience of the Mechanical Calibration Engineer 

  • Experience of instrumentation and calibration procedures, theory, techniques and processes (Mechanical); 
  • Knowledge of Safe Systems of Work and Risk Assessments
  • Experience in a Quality Assurance background 
  • Experienced in documentation e.g. reading and writing procedures

 

Qualifications for the Mechanical Calibration Engineer
•    HNC in a relevant engineering discipline (or equivalent) and recognised Engineering Apprenticeship (or equivalent)

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
