The role
As a Marine Mechanical Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Your role will include undertake mechanical fitting activities, repairs and inspections on systems and equipment on all Royal Navy (RN) and other entitled Vessels and, when required, in other sections including the Estate.

Day-to-day, you’ll ensure completion of all planned preventative maintenance and nuclear implicated work to ensure the department meets the objectives of the business. (AC28) . You will also: 

• Identification and rectification of all system, manufacture, defects, and alterations to ensure the continued availability and performance of HMNB Clyde Submarines, Surface Vessels and the Estate.
• Ensure that work is carried out in line with current processes and make suggestions on improving systems and processes to increase productivity in accordance with set objectives and timescales. (AC17)
• Work within all health and safety legislations, Safe Systems Of Work and control of work processes within BM&T Clyde policies.

This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at Helensburgh. 

Essential experience of the Marine Mechanical Engineer 

• HM Submarine and Ship Operating procedures
• HM Submarine and Ship Tag-out procedures
• Nuclear Procedures, Production Technical Instructions, Support Documentation
• Submarine and surface ship mechanical systems and equipment
• Relevant acceptance standards

Qualifications for the Marine Mechanical Engineer

• Recognised Mechanical Apprenticeship or equivalent.
• N/SVQ Level 3 – Engineering Maintenance (Mechanical) or equivalent
• NC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Asbestos Awareness - Vessels
• Confined Spaces for Competent Persons

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
