The role
As a Lifting Supervisor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will support lifting operations activities throughout HMNB Clyde with supervision of all lifting operations.
Day-to-day, you’ll provide supervision for safe lifting. Follow Lifting Plans as directed by the Appointed Person’s Safe System of Work.
- Be conversant with and fully comply with content of briefing from Appointed Person including scope, limit, lifting method statements and risk assessments.
- Maintaining the flow of work and setting the pace.
- Support Appointed Person in achieving lifting related KPI’s across all operational areas by communicating feedback of lifting operations.
- Support the mentoring of selected lifting work party members as directed by the Appointed Person and the Lifting Operations Manager.
- Support all investigations, assessments and audits by the Infrastructure Compliance, Quality or SHEQS Departments as directed by the Appointed Person or Lifting Operation Manager
This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday – Friday with a half day on the Friday and is based on site at Faslane HMNB.
Essential experience of the Lifting Supervisor
- Experience in supervising lifting operations
- Knowledge of Risk Assessments
- Experience in a Health, Safety & Environment
- Slinging, Rigging or Fleeting working experience
Qualifications for the Lifting Supervisor
- SVQ/NVQ Level 3 Controlling Lifting Operations – Supervising lift

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
