The role

As an Electrical Fitter within our Shiplift Facility, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be at the heart of maintaining and repairing essential systems that support the Royal Navy fleet, ensuring operational readiness and safety. This is your chance to make a real impact while developing your skills in a dynamic, high-integrity environment.

 

 

Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:

  • Completing planned preventative maintenance and nuclear-implicated work to meet business objectives
  • Identifying and rectifying system defects and alterations to maintain Shiplift performance
  • Suggesting improvements to processes and systems to boost productivity
  • Carrying out work in line with health and safety legislation and Safe Systems of Work
  • Supporting other sections, including the Estate, when required.

 

 

This is a full-time, permanent role based onsite at HMNB Clyde. You’ll work over 4 days (07:15–16:45, Monday to Thursday).

 

 

Essential experience of the Electrical Fitter:

  • Previous experience in a marine or industrial engineering environment, with electrical maintenance expertise
  • Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and solve problems under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality standards
  • Knowledge of maintenance procedures, risk assessments, COSHH, and Safe Systems of Work.

 

 

Qualifications for the Electrical Fitter:

  • Recognised Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship (SVQ Level 3, NVQ, or City & Guilds equivalent)
  • OR HNC and above in Electrical Engineering with relevant industry experience.

 

 

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role.
