The role
As a Base Shift Specialist Electrical you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Assisting the Shiplift manager in maximising utilisation of personnel and resource of the section.


Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:

  • Forward plan the undertaking of maintenance and project work, liaising with other departments and alongside vessels as required to ensure KPI targets are achieved with the minimum number of concessions.
  • Ensure that all tasks are carried out in accordance with the Company’s cost, time and quality requirements. 
  • Support all OOH activities with an operational imperative in all areas of the Base, as directed by the Base Shift Manager. 
  • Draft Concessions and input technical information as directed by Management and prepare other technical investigations and reports.
  • Scope and make safe defects as they occur and are reported in accordance with the MSDF contract.  Provide an initial assessment of the defect and report to the Facility Maintenance Manager or Base Shift Manager with repair recommendations and were required/possible provide an alternative.


This role is full time, 42 hours per week and is based on site at Faslane.

 

Essential experience of the Base Shift Specialist Electrical:
Experience in the following areas:

  • High Voltage and Low Voltage Systems and Equipment
  • Maintenance Documentation
  • Authorised Persons policies and procedures
  • Safe Systems of Work
  • Risk Assessments


Qualifications for the Base Shift Specialist Electrical:

  • HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Proof of completion within an Electrical Apprenticeship.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
  • Emergency First Aid/Electric Shock training. 
  • IOSH Managing Safely.
