About the role

Here at Babcock International we’re looking to recruit an Information & Systems Assurance Specialist. This is a key role working within Babcock’s Marine Training business which operates a range of government and commercial maritime training contracts within the defence sector providing training and training support services.

As the Information & Systems Assurance Specialist (ISAS) you will ensure that the full range of IS (Information Systems) networks across the Marine Training business meet all compliance requirements and that all information flows and storage are understood, documented and controlled appropriately. You will also acts as the Information Technology Security Officer  for the Marine Training business ensuring Information Systems, Information Assurance and cyber security measures are fit-for-purpose and continually improved across the Marine Training business.

The role of ISAS is accountable to the Marine Training Head of Assurance and will need to work closely with Babcock Group IS, the Babcock IS Information Assurance Team, Marine Security & IA team and the Marine Training Assurance team in addition to MoD and other relevant customer IS/IA organisations.

What will the role involve?

  • Develop and maintain a repository of all key information relating to Babcock IS networks and Babcock-managed customer IS networks ensuring that all compliance requirements and status are clearly articulated.
  • Monitor the compliance status of all Babcock IS networks and Babcock-managed customer IS networks and taking pro-active steps to ensure all compliance requirements are met in good time.
  • Maintain regular, continuous contact with all  stakeholders to ensure that roles and responsibilities to maintain compliance are clearly understood and appropriate actions are carried out in good time.
  • Ensuring compliance requirements are understood and clearly communicated to all internal and external stakeholders and users through education face-to-face briefings and written material. 
  • Staying up to date with all Babcock IS networks and Babcock-managed customer IS networks compliance requirements and ensure any changes to requirements are understood and all necessary steps are taken to maintain compliance.

What do I need to do the role?

You’ll need substantial experience of Information Systems and Information Systems security

Would also like you to have experience in all or some of these areas:

  • Experience of Information Assurance or Governance
  • Experience carrying out investigations and writing reports
  • Excellent communication skills to build relationships with and influence stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Experience of developing staff throgh training on best practice

What else do I need to know?

  • You should hold or have the ability to obtain SC Clearance
  • The main place of work will be HMS Collingwood but the role has responsibility for all 18 Marine Training sites and will be required to travel regularly within the UK.
