About the role

A fixed base opportunity currently exists for an Aircrew Officer to join our Aviation & Critical Services team in Essendon, supporting our operations in Ambulance Victoria.

 

As part of this role, you will:

  • Maintain flying currency and conduct safe flight operations complying with CASR, contractual and company policies and procedures.
  • Report promptly on all operations and maintenance deficiencies.
  • Complete pre-flight and post-flight documentation.
  • Interact successfully with Aircrew, client staff, Medical Transport Specialists and stakeholders.
  • Operate safely and efficiently in a small team environment.
  • Assist the medical team in providing critical interventions, patient management and care.
  • Provide accurate visual observation and information to the Pilot of flight relevant data including clearances, personnel movements and flight safety related issues.
  • Maintain readiness of operational role equipment.
  • Perform the duties of an Aircrew Officer/Hoist Operator during HEMS and SAR missions.
  • Assist with the ongoing maintenance and inspection of base and role equipment.
  • Conduct aircraft flight preparation and post-flight husbandry.
  • Ensure security and safe configuration of cabin and equipment.
  • Remain current in medical assistant skills; and
  • Assist with medical equipment readiness and custodial duties within ability.

About You

Essential requirements:

  • Five hundred (500) hours experience as an Aircrew Officer;
  • Hoist operator endorsements held for greater than twelve (12) months, with appropriate experience, or military endorsement;
  • NVIS endorsement and experience;
  • One hundred and fifty (150) hours experience in EMS;
  • Current HUET with EBS;
  • Senior First Aid/Advanced Resus;
  • Hold a CASA Class 2 Medical Certificate;
  • Certificate IV in Aviation AVI40116 (Aircrewman) or AVI40119 (Aircrew Officer), or Certificate IV in Airborne Operations (AVI40225);
  • Ability to relocate to within 30 mins of Essendon, VIC;
  • Work as an integral part of a small, high performance team;
  • Be an enthusiastic, focused professional with a growth mindset.

 

Desirable requirements:

  • AW139 experience
  • Front Left Seat experience
  • HEMS experience.
