The role

As a WRB Infills, Demolition & Trials Implementation Engineer you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll play a key role in the delivery of major infrastructure and construction projects within one of the United Kingdom’s most important defence environments. Acting as the intelligent customer for complex construction activities, you'll help ensure the highest standards of engineering excellence, quality, safety, and compliance across critical civil and structural projects.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

  • Providing engineering expertise across complex civil and structural construction packages.
  • Reviewing and approving technical queries, engineering documentation, material approvals, and change requests.
  • Liaising with designers, contractors, project teams, and site representatives to support successful project delivery.
  • Identifying construction challenges, investigating root causes, and driving continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conducting construction surveillance activities and reviewing temporary works, risk assessments, and method statements to ensure safety and compliance.

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week, based at Devonport. Hybrid working patterns are available, with a minimum of two days per week onsite.

 

 

Essential experience of the WRB Infills, Demolition & Trials Implementation Engineer

  • Experience in the design and substantiation of heavy civil engineering and building structures.
  • Knowledge of seismic design codes and their application to safety-critical infrastructure.
  • Experience of construction techniques used for nuclear safety-related structures and buildings.
  • Experience delivering major infrastructure projects within a regulated or nuclear licensed environment.
  • Understanding of engineering management systems and construction governance processes.

 

 

Qualifications for the WRB Infills, Demolition & Trials Implementation Engineer

 

Essential

 

  • Level 6 qualification in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline, or Level 5 qualification with significant relevant experience.

 

Desirable

  • Professionally registered with a recognised engineering institution such as the Institution of Civil Engineers or Institution of Structural Engineers.
  • Working towards Chartered Engineer status

 

 

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
