The role
As a Type 26 Supportability Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Type 26 (T26) Frigate Support Engineering Team. You will be working alongside other highly qualified and knowledgeable Engineers, Managers and Technicians to help deliver the support for this new class of Royal Navy warship. 


Day-to-day, you’ll be working with others to deliver the through life support of this new class of complex warship. Your key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Apply Availability, Reliability, Maintainability & Supportability (ARM&S) & Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) principles to engineering processes and activity to support T26 Through Life Management.
  • Provide support as required to T26 design change activities.
  • Liaise with various internal and external stakeholders and responsible for interpreting customer requirements to optimise the T26 Support Engineering team activities 
  • Work with stakeholders to enable access to / transfer of contracted through life support products and information from the build environment to the in-service support community
  • Timely development and delivery of assured technical reports and all other engineering deliverables to the required standard.

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.

 

Essential experience of the Type 26 Supportability Engineer:

  • Experienced in working with others to deliver the through life support of complex assets
  • Experience in in-service support and are aware of the engineering design and maintenance processes used
  • An understanding of ARM&S and ILS principles
  • Experienced in writing high quality technical reports
  • Application of project management methodologies

 

Qualifications for the Type 26 Supportability Engineer:

  • Degree qualified in Engineering discipline or lower qualification with extensive experience will also be considered.   
  • Professionally registered Engineer or working towards, IEng or CEng with an approved engineering institution or willingness to work towards as part of continuous professional development.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
