The role
As a Slinger, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is your chance to be part of something bigger, contributing directly to the maintenance and upkeep of the Royal Navy's fleet. This could see you working on warships, submarines or within our factories supporting the delivery of these complex engineering projects.
Day-to-day, you’ll undertake slinging operations to safely move equipment and materials across various projects.
- Assist in operations on submarines and warships
- Produce Basic Lift Plans and Fleeting Plans
- Follow written instructions as detailed in the Lift Plan
- Ensuring safe exclusion zones are set up around lifting operations
- Inspect lifting equipment and quarantine non-conforming items
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential experience of the Slinger
- Previous experience working in a marine environment
- Knowledge of submarines and warship layouts
- Ability to read and understand functional procedures
Qualifications for the Slinger
- NVQ level 2 in Marine Engineering (Movement of Loads)
- NPORS 402 Slinger/Signaller
- CPCS Blue /A40
- OPITO Slinger/Signaller
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
