The role
As a Senior Submarine Technical Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. In this critical role, you'll make a real impact by influencing the design of systems, equipment, material selection and layout decisions. Your contributions will enhance efficiency, reliability, and innovation, ensuring the Royal Navy’s future submarines remain at the forefront of naval engineering.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll collaborate closely with Designers, Engineers, Build Operations, and Supply Chain Specialists, applying your expertise to drive technological advancements in next-generation underwater defence. 

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Support the Design team and engage SMEs for through-life queries.
  • Collaborate across Integrated Product Support (IPS) elements to ensure efficient submarine development.
  • Generate supportability evidence and by identifying availability risks.
  • Conduct initial evaluations to optimise submarine capability.

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.

 

Essential experience of the Senior Submarine Technical Engineer 

  • Submarine Maintenance Expertise with experience in project delivery within a core waterfront setting including production planning, commissioning, and system set-to-work.
  • Deep understanding of Nuclear fleet maintenance, product safety, and assurance.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience and ability to communicate effectively to feed experience into re-shaping strategic design impact to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Skilled in multi-discipline teamwork, managing stakeholder demands across submarine lifecycle 
  • Industry Partner Experience and familiarity with Industrial Partner operations, ensuring seamless integration.

 

Qualifications for the Senior Submarine Technical Engineer 

  • Ideally HND/Foundation Degree or equivalent qualification supplemented by relevant experience in an appropriate engineering discipline.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
