The role

As a Senior Project Manager, you’ll play a key role in delivering major infrastructure and engineering packages that support the transformational 10 Dock Programme within Babcock's Marine Sector. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the procurement, manufacture, and delivery of complex offsite manufacturing work packages, working alongside industry-leading specialists, contractors, and suppliers across the United Kingdom and Europe.

  • Leading the procurement, manufacture, and delivery of major offsite manufacturing packages.
  • Managing contractors and suppliers to ensure programme, commercial, quality, and safety objectives are achieved.
  • Coordinating design completion, contractor mobilisation, delivery, installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Driving risk management, stakeholder engagement, and project governance throughout delivery phases.
  • Collaborating with internal teams, contractors, and external partners to achieve successful programme outcomes.

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

 

Essential experience of the Senior Project Manager

  • Experience operating at a senior level within major projects or highly regulated environments.
  • Demonstrable experience managing procurement and tender processes for significant contracts or subcontract packages.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, including programme and commercial performance.
  • Knowledge of construction techniques and industry best practice.
  • Ability to lead contractors and stakeholders through complex project delivery programmes.

 

Qualifications for the Senior Project Manager

Essential:

  • Degree, Higher National Certificate, or Higher National Diploma in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

 

Desirable:

  • Working towards professional membership with a relevant institution such as the Institution of Civil Engineers or Chartered Institute of Building.
  • Association for Project Management qualification or equivalent.
  • NEC4 Accredited Project Manager qualification.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
