The role
As a Senior Project Manager - Facilities, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is an excellent opportunity to manage a programme of facility and infrastructure upgrades on the Nuclear Site in Devonport Royal Dockyard. This is a key role in support of the UKs fleet of Vanguard-Class Submarines. 


Day-to-day, you’ll lead a team of nuclear project professionals and manage a programme of projects delivering new infrastructure and facility upgrades across the site. The successful candidate will work in the Nuclear Facilities Project Delivery department, part of the Nuclear Operations Directorate. They will work with the wider V-Class submarine boat programme, plant managers, facility engineering and others to define the programme, plan, prioritise and deliver multiple projects.  


  • Lead, develop and report on a team of nuclear project professionals
  • Drive accurate programme reporting against schedule, cost and quality and ensure projects are correctly governed and assured. 
  • Mange key internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify and mitigate risks within the programme


This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.


Essential experience of the Senior Project Manager - Facilities

  • Experience leading and managing project teams
  • Experience of delivering complex programmes of work on a nuclear licenced site 
  • Experience of reporting on full project lifecycles
  • Experience of managing and delivering facility or infrastructure projects in regulated industries


Qualifications for the Senior Project Manager - Facilities

  • Minimum NVQ Level 4 in an engineering discipline, technical discipline, business qualification (BTEC HNC in management minimum) or demonstrable work experience 
  • APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) or equivalent qualification in project management
  • Chartership in engineering, project management or technical discipline preferred

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
