The role

As a Senior Financial Accountant, you’ll sit at the heart of our Mission Systems business, supporting a significant period of transformation and growth. This is a hands‑on, influential role where your financial insight will directly support strategic decision‑making, operational performance and long‑term sustainability.

 

You’ll own key financial reporting entities, provide technical accounting expertise, and help shape budgets and forecasts that enable the business to deliver complex, high‑value solutions. Alongside this, you’ll develop your leadership capability by managing and supporting a team member, while broadening your exposure beyond traditional accounting into continuous improvement and stakeholder partnership.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

 

  • Leading the ownership and delivery of monthly management and financial reporting for designated Mission Systems entities
  • Producing and analysing overhead, payroll and headcount reports alongside cost centre managers
  • Managing budgets and forecasts, translating complex data into clear financial insight
  • Providing technical accounting expertise and supporting internal and external audits
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives and collaborating with Financial Business Services teams

 

This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days onsite and days working from home.

 

Essential experience of the Senior Financial Accountant

  • Significant experience in financial reporting and management accounting
  • Experience working within an international manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Strong capability using SAP or similar financial systems
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting
  • Ability to communicate clearly, influence stakeholders and perform under month‑end pressures

 

Qualifications for the Senior Financial Accountant

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACCA or CIMA)

 

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) / security clearance for this role.  Ideally Sole UK.
