The role
As a Security Officer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. We’re looking for dedicated and enthusiastic Security Officers to join the Security Team at Devonport Royal Dockyard, where you’ll have the unique opportunity to contribute to the security of a critical infrastructure facility. 

 

Day to day, you’ll play a crucial role in safeguarding the facilities and assets from potential threats and ensuring the safety of our personnel and visitors to the site.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Access Control: Greeting visitors and staff, verifying their credentials, and granting appropriate access levels in line with corporate protocols
  • Incident Response: Responding promptly to security incidents and taking necessary actions.
  • Facility Checks: Conducting regular inspections of designated areas to identify potential security breaches.
  • Team Collaboration: Working closely with other security team members to maintain a secure environment.
  • Relationship Building: Fostering positive relationships with other security forces on site.
  • Patrols: Conducting patrols to deter unauthorized access and ensure the security of facilities and assets.

 

This role is full time, working an average of 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard. 

 

The successful candidate will be willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including night, weekend, and bank holiday shifts.
 

Essential experience of the Security Officer:

  • Effective interpersonal skills and a commitment to providing excellent customer service
  • Good understanding of security protocols and procedures 
  • Experience in physical security measures including conducting foot and vehicle patrols
  • Effective decision-making abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to identify and mitigate potential threats, both internal and external

 

Qualifications for the Security Officer:

  • Security Industry Authority (SIA)
  • Security Guarding (SG) (front line) licence - must be obtained on offer of employment and prior to starting
  • UK Driving Licence

 
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
