As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you’ll be central to ensuring that the engineering, infrastructure and facilities supporting the maintenance of the UK’s submarines and warships are delivered to the highest standards of safety, reliability and regulatory compliance.
Day-to-day, you’ll grow your capability in quality assurance, engineering oversight and stakeholder collaboration across multiple high-profile projects.
- Provide guidance and support to project teams to ensure quality planning, installation, commissioning and handover meet defined standards.
- Support the development, review and implementation of Quality Management Plans and Inspection and Test Plans during project phases.
- Oversee project and supply chain compliance with quality requirements, ensuring that deliverables meet regulatory and business expectations.
- Ensure Life Time Quality Records provide assured evidence that plant, equipment and infrastructure meet design intent.
- Support Senior Quality Assurance Engineers in delivering project lifecycle assurance activities.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential experience of the Quality Assurance Engineer
- Experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Control techniques within an engineering environment, including working with supply chain partners.
- Knowledge of change management, document management and quality governance, including awareness of improvement programmes.
- Understanding of national, international, statutory and regulatory obligations relating to Quality Management.
- Experience engaging with stakeholders and contributing to engineering assurance activities.
- Knowledge or experience of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System requirements, with desirable qualifications or training in auditing, inspection, quality management, or defence/nuclear/infrastructure environments.
Qualifications for the Quality Assurance Engineer
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in an engineering or quality discipline.
- Completed apprenticeship in an Engineering discipline.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
