As a Project Planner, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting the planning activity that underpins critical submarine support projects. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a high‑performing team whose work directly contributes to national security and the long‑term sustainability of the UK’s naval capabilities.
Day-to-day, help shape, maintain and develop planning data that supports informed decision‑making across major defence engineering programmes. Your work will give you deep exposure to project controls, engineering systems and stakeholder engagement, an ideal foundation for long‑term career growth in defence, aerospace and engineering.
- Assist the Senior Planner in developing, maintaining and implementing the planning database.
- Compile, reorganise and standardise project data to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Attend project meetings on behalf of the Senior Scheduler where required.
- Produce high‑level schedule visuals for programme reviews and stakeholder updates.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across project controls, engineering and wider support teams.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential experience of the Project Planner
- Demonstrable experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of scheduling and planning methodologies - Desirable
- Basic understanding of engineering systems - Desirable
- Familiarity with scheduling or planning software - Desirable
Qualifications for the Project Planner
- GCSEs or equivalent academic qualifications.
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent. - Desirable
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
